Here we go on our journey in decorating. We just sold our townhouse and are upgrading to a new build that we will make our home.  I love the color white and use a lot of it to decorate. We made our last house into a home by adding lots of DIY touches. We plan on doing the same thing to this new build and I can’t wait to share this journey and all our projects with you all! First, let us take a trip down memory lane and talk about some of the projects from the townhouse we just sold. One of the first things I did was paint stripes on our entry wall. I just love a big bold stripe and really it is a quick easy transformation. I always use frog tape as my go to painters tape. I measured and taped off the width I wanted the stripes and then used white paint and the original wall color (accessible beige by Sherwin Williams) to alternate the stripe colors. So really I only bought some white paint because I had Frog tape on hand. It was a little tricky to keep my lines of tape straight on the wall, so I used a big long level. Let me know what you think. Have you painted stripes in your house yet?

Backsplash

So, in our townhouse, I was dying to put up some cute Moroccan trellis tile. But our builder grade granite 4″ backsplash was in the way. This was something where I bought all the stuff but ended up hiring a handyman to install. He showed up to remove the 4″ lip granite and turns out the counter top was not perfectly even with the wall. Basically, the builder knew that the counter wouldn’t need to line up perfectly with the wall, because it would be covered with the backsplash lip that sat on top. The problem is when you want to take that off to install real backsplash, there is a big gap. Sooooo we put it back up and just did plan B. Backsplash on top of the lip. I know…most people say this is a major no-no. But This wasn’t our forever home and I think it still turned out okay. It gave the kitchen more white so I was happy. Details on the faucet and board and batten to come……
