Pleated Curtains
Buying a new house is no joke! After moving all your stuff, then comes blinds, yard, and so many other projects. It really never ends. We have got so much done in the short 3 weeks we have lived here. We finally got shutters and shades. I just had to go ahead and get my curtain rod and curtains hung too!
I have had this brass curtain rod for months. It has been waiting for it’s time to shine. I knew when I saw it, it would be perfect. The rod looks even better than I thought it would and it coordinates great with our cabinet hardware. I also got the matching clip rings. Brass is making a comeback people! Get on board. You won’t be disappointed.
I wanted neutral curtains that didn’t stand out but made an elegant statement. The first thing that came to mind was pleats. I really wanted triple pleated curtains that were a white linen. I envisioned the perfect curtain and that definitely came with a price tag. Sighhhhhh. Curtains can be so expensive, especially with pleats. That hefty price tag was not in the budget, so I came up with a plan B. IKEA came to the rescue with the look I wanted without the price tag.
The Ritva curtains from IKEA are so versatile and can be hung multiple ways. One way is with pleat hooks. YAY! No need to add pleater tape. These curtains have a rod pocket, tabs, and pleater tabs. They come in 118-inch length with two panels of only $34.99. You really can not beat that price. I made this quick video to show you how to add pleater hooks to your curtain. I wanted three pleats. So, I got four prong pleater hooks. If you do not want that many pleats, you can get two prong pleater hooks. The package comes with a single pleat hook for each end of your curtain. This will help your curtain panel hang properly on the ends and look finished.
Just like that, you have pleated curtains for a very affordable price. One small project done….723,456,000 to go….
So pretty, just what I was looking for! But oh! Will you please tell me where you got your curtain rods and rings? Those are all so expensive as well!
Thank you! I have really enjoyed these. I got the curtain rod and rings at Bed Bath and Beyond. They usually have a coupon for 20% off as well.
Hiya! I love these and I ordered the Ritva and they are very yellowish – how did you get these pure white?
Mine came in a soft white color. They are not bright white. Best of luck!
I simply love this project! How much shrinkage do you experience after pinch pleating the panel? The Rivta starts at 57 inches, what was your resulting width? Thank you!
Thank you! The curtain panels here in the picture are about 10″ wide. I could spread them out more but I like them this wide for the window.
Did you get the brushed brass or brass rod?
I went with the brushed brass rod. 🙂
Ok thank you! I can’t find them anywhere! Their all sold out!
Simply gorgeous! Thank you so much! xoxo
Sooo….You guys going just curtains no blinds? We can’t decide what to do when we take down our plantation shutters!!! >.<
No, we have light filtering roller shades with the curtains. I really like the roller shades. You can pick from a variety of fabrics and still have a full view when you want it.
I’ve searched high and low for rings to match the Umbra Gold Rod. Did you use the Cappa cappa rings with the clip? Thanks in advance for ending my agony!
Hi, yes I did use the cappa rings with the clip. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions. Here is the affiliate link. http://go.shopyourlikes.com/pi/6bc8fd68ac01df4e03a2d6199d276eab0cf609a6?afId=626526&afCreativeId=2994
Hi! How did you hand them on to the rings? Do they just hook onto them or do you use clips? Thanks! This is beautiful!
Thank you! The rings have a little loop or eyelet that the pinch pleat hooks hang right on.
Hi where do you get your roller shades from?
They are from a local Utah company. I can give you the contact info you are interested.
Yes please!
Hi! Do you mind sharing the Utah roller shade company with me please?
Mike at budget blinds. 801-691-6677.
I am trying to understand what kind of hooks you used… I am trying to recreate this look and not sure what kind of hooks to get. I am seeing ones with clips, and others that aren’t. What kind did you use? I can’t tell in the pictures!
There is a little loop on the curtain ring that the clips dangle from. I stick the pleater hook through that loop hole on the ring where the clip hangs from. Here are the clip rings I used: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/cambria-reg-casuals-reg-clip-rings-set-of-7/3293411?keyword=clip-rings
Hi! I bought this exact rod and curtains for my daughters room. her window is 110 wide. did you use 2 packs of curtains or one? i was going to double up on each side, but maybe i don’t need to.
Good day. Great idea with curtains))) And you have such huge windows, it’s great so much light)))
Hi! A great tutorial on YouTube led me here. If I wanted to do the pinch pleat like you suggested but didn’t want the rod to be visible, is there a way to do that? Thank YOU!
It would have to be a pinch pleat curtain that also had a rod pocket behind. That would probably be the best way to hide the rod.
Hi! How wide is your window? I have a 108 inch wide window and was wondering how many panels I will need…Thanks!
We have since sold this house so I don’t have the measurements.
Very pretty! How much fabric is draped on the floor?
It just puddled. It’s a personal preference.
Where are the pinch pleat clips from? I cant find any…? or any with the two end clips..
I got mine from Hobby Lobby.
Love this! Did you snag the roller shades from Ikea as well?
No, the rollers were custom.
