I frequently get asked what my most loved project is to date. Or what my favorite transformation has been. Mr. Whitelane and I have done our fair share of DIY and home improvements over the years. From houses to yards, and everything in between. I have to say, this Stanton Carpet could be my favorite so far.
Let’s start from the beginning and take a look at where this stairwell started. Dark, brown, and shag are all the words that come to my mind. Which is not at all what you would want a stairwell to look like. I know what you are probably thinking. What is wrong with that carpet? Well, for starters our baby would pull the carpet fibers and threads out all the time. The high pile of this style is very high maintenance. It only looks good right after you vacuum. Especially on the stairs, the old carpet got matted and dingy looking even when it was not dirty! It drove me nuts how bad it looked all the time. I knew I didn’t like this carpet from the moment we bought the house. It was always the plan to rip it out at some point.
I absolutely fell in love with the Bravo style carpet from the Atelier Journey Collection. It is everything I envisioned for our stairwell and hallway. Low pile, modern design, neutral color, and very durable. I mean look at the gorgeous herringbone pattern. What’s not to love? A timeless and classy carpet style that fits the aesthetic of our home so much better! Bravo also comes in other colors too. The fiber is 100% Scotchgard 3M which makes it a great choice for the stairs (or anywhere).
I have been literally counting down the days until the brown shag carpet was gone. Lemco Flooring & Designs did a fabulous job installing this Stanton Carpet. If you are local to Utah, they are THE PLACE for all your flooring needs. I can not say enough great things about Lemco. I have used Lemco since before I even had a blog. That really says a lot because quality flooring and install is hard to come by. They carry all the brands including my favorite Stanton Carpet. Ryan, from Lemco, came to measure and listened to all the concerns and wants I had with the carpet. I already had my mind made up on the Stanton Carpet Bravo style. Next, the installer did an incredible job. Stairs can be tricky and easily messed up. I am happy to report the installer took great care to place the seams in all the right places and give this Bravo Style all her glory. 🙂 They even vacuumed and cleaned everything before they left.
What a difference the right carpet can make! This Stanton Carpet brought this stairwell up to date. I still have a lot more plans for this space. This was a huge step in the right direction. So, what about the rest of the carpet that is in the bedrooms? Don’t you worry! I am saving and planning all I can to get rid of every last inch of that dreaded brown shag carpet. The hallway and stairs have completely transformed with this beautiful Bravo carpet. I can not wait to get my hands on the bedrooms. I just hope they look half as good as the hallway and stairs turned out.
You have to take a look at Stanton Carpet and all the quality styles they offer. Then make sure to visit Lemco to make it all happen. This carpet has surpassed all my expectations (and they are high) for this area. The durability and quality are really unmatched. I get so giddy going up and down the stairs now. Cheesy, I know. Am I the only who gets excited about this kind of stuff? There is something very rewarding about seeing your inspirations come to life with the help of wonderful companies like Stanton Carpet and Lemco Flooring Designs.
Hi! I’m so close to getting this carpet for my stairs and all upstairs and bedrooms! I’m worried it will look to busy in bedrooms where I won’t be able to layer rugs on top of it. Do you still love it? Do you worry you can’t layer other patterns. Thanks so much for the advice!
I absolutely still love it! My favorite carpet to date! You can totally layer rugs on top of this in other patterns. I would just make sure they are subtle and not too busy. Neutral pattern rugs that compliment the colors of the carpet. That is also what is so great about this carpet. It can stand alone and make a statement but also looks great with a complimenting accent rug.
What is the style name of this Stanton carpet?
Bravo is the name in the color “khaki”
What is the color of this carpet?

How has this carpet held up? I’m sure it gets a lot of foot traffic and I’m wondering how it looks after some use
It has held up great so far!
hello – i love this carpet too. A bit nervous by how light it is because i live in raised ranch so stairs are used often to get to kitchen and bedrooms.
But I will think I’m going to go for it – and possibly in my large playroom downstairs!
I love the color white you have on the walls. Can you share what the paint brand and color is?
Pure White by Sherwin Williams. Love the carpet and hopefully, you will too! they have darker colors in the same design if you are worried about stains.
What an amazing transformation! Our house came with carpet that we hate, but we’ve got other priorities to fix in the home first, so we’re living with it for now (a good carpet cleaning did help it look 100x better). When we do finally replace it, I would love something like this! That pattern is gorgeous, especially on the stairs.
Thank you! I am sure there are tons of project you have. I have loved this carpet and the pattern. Good luck on your home!
This carpet is beautiful! I absolutely love it!!! I would love to hear what carpet you plan to put in your bedrooms to complement this pattern. Are your bedrooms directly off the hallway as well?
Thank you! Yes, the bedrooms are just directly off the hallway. I think we are actually going to be doing wood flooring in the bedrooms. I am in the process of finalizing the decision. I will have a blog post up all about what we decided to go with in the next month or so.
What color did you select for your Bravo carpet?
The color is “khaki”
Hi
The carpet looks beautiful.
Which color is it ? Khaki ?
Yes this is the Khaki color.
I want this carpet for my stairs. Where can I purchase it at. What is the brand and color?
You can get all the details here about the carpet. I love it! https://www.whitelanedecor.com/index.php/2019/stanton-carpet-stair-update/
Hey,
I really liked this carpet. What an amazing transformation. This article will really help in making a decision.
Thank you for the article.
We love the carpet. We got a sample and it looks a lot darker than the photos. Does this look darker in person? We were going for a lighter vibe.
Great work.
It may look a little lighter or darker depending on the lighting situation in your own home. Overall it is a pretty light-colored carpet.
Hi! How does this carpeting do with stains? We have two little boys so it has to be durable for us! Also, what is the texture? Is it super soft ? I love it and am considering it for our stairs!
Mine has been wonderful! Any stains have come right out.
Would you recommend this carpet for a family room?
Absolutely, it is very durable. If you are worried about the light color, you may want a now shoes policy on the carpet.
I love this carpet! Thank you so much for your detailed description! Questions for you, does the carpet have a nap to it? Or is it more like a Berber? Also, when you step on the carpet does it leave footprint marks that almost look like stains? We put in a new carpet with a waffle looking pattern (when you step on it makes your foot print look like a color change)and don’t wanna make the same mistake twice. I’m not sure how long you’ve had the carpet but I was also wondering how it wears? Thank you so much!
It doesn’t leave footprints which was really nice! The pattern hides the foot traffic. We only had it about 8 months before we sold and had a no-shoe policy on the carpet. It still looked fabulous the day we moved. I would say in between Berber and low nap.
Did you flow this carpet throughout the bedrooms as well or did it transition into something else?
I transitioned to a solid surface flooring in the bedrooms. You can read about that here:https://www.whitelanedecor.com/index.php/2019/lifeproof-luxury-rigid-vinyl-plank-flooring-performance/
Hello, the Bravo flooring looks great. I had a question about orientation of a directional pattern like herringbone. I have a stair that turns after a landing near the top. There are 2 or 3 steps before you’re on the second floor after this landing. The “lower” long run of these stairs is parallel with the main hall that goes to my master bedroom. I guess I would orient the whole upstairs and lower run of stairs in a north/south fashion. And then orient the 2 or 3 steps in an east/west fashion. Would these few steps look odd. Does this make sense? How would you resolve this? Are you pretty seamless with this herringbone in your adjacent rooms or is this Bravo carpet just in your hallways?
It’s only in my hallways but the Carpet Layers are excellent at orientation and matching seems for problems like this.
